Every friend group has that one “Grandma” among them and… Hi, yeah – that’s me!

I'm Old... and I like it! 8.8

The saying “Old Soul” describes me in every way, shape, and form. I’m 22 years old – but I truly feel like a 37 year old on the inside. I choose 37 because at that age you’re still young and vibrant, but you would choose a night in over a night out (in my opinion).

I get teased now and again for being the “Grandma” of the group, and sometimes it does make me feel down. But you know what, it shouldn’t! Something I’ve always strongly believed in is, not everyone has to have the same mentality about your 20’s. We live in this world where people think your 20’s are meant for partying, sexual experimentation, nights with less than 6 hours of sleep, and days spent driving around in a soft-top Jeep.

When in-fact, most 20 something year olds spend their days working, and their nights sitting on the couch, with a glass of wine, and going to bed before 10 p.m.. I feel that if every person in their early to mid 20s decided to be rambunctious, and live life like it’s the last day, EVERYDAY, then nothing would be considered fun, and adventurous. You need people like me, to be the Grandmas, and stay low-key, so it makes everything else look like way more fun than it actually is!

So, long story short- if you’re the Grandma, ENJOY IT! You are probably very well rested, well adjusted, and comfortable with who you are, and I applaud that. Say it loud, and say it proud – “I’m Old and I Like It!!!”

  1. Hey, it was always the same with me – but wait for your 30ies – when all your friend mourning they get old – then you will feel younger or at least same age like now 😉 great post

  2. Hear ! Hear ! Fellow grandma talking here 🙂 As you, I like nights of sleep long, my wine tasty and my life calm. And see nothing wrong with that, you just have to be true to yourself and screw what others think or say.
