I always feel like I’m cheating when I say I’ve “read” this book. I listened to it on audible… but that counts, right?
Since starting my 9-5 job I’ve been very into listening to audio books. I used to listen to music, or bop along with the radio, but that got old fast. I started to think that I should be doing something more valuable with my time, like getting more intellectual, or some shit like that.
Recently I just finished listening to the book The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish. I was first introduced to Tiffany through the movie Girls Trip, which by the way was an AMAZING movie, recommend for any one. Then I started watching some of her stand up, and recent interviews. Quickly I fell in love with her charm and how real she was. Wasn’t long after I learned she had a book, that I decided to purchase it.
This book is 15 chapters long, which equals out to 6.5 hours long. It took me two days to get through it, but it was a two days well spent. Listening to her story is just heartbreaking. Everything she’s been through, and still at the end of the day she finds a reason to smile, and a motive to laugh, it’s truly inspiring.
Tiffany lives her life by the motto of, always have fun, and that’s just what she does. I’ve never met her in person, but if I had the opportunity to be so lucky too, it would truly be an experience.
I don’t want to give to much away about the book, but I do recommend to anyone. Especially those who are struggling at the moment. If you’ve ever felt down, depresses, even suicidal this book is proof that things to do turn around when you push through the tough times, and find a reason to still smile.
Tiffany, I hope you realize how special you are. God put people like you on this earth to remind us that life is what we make it. And if we choose and decide to find the happy in even the worst situations, we’ll always make it through.
